Trinity’s Environmental Commitment Grows

Environmental stewardship is important, too!

We encourage members to bring their aluminum cans to the church so that we can sell them and use the proceeds for church activities.

Through the City of Statesville we are partnering in their new, single stream recycling program. The City has expanded the number of recyclables it takes from a few items placed in red plastic tubs to such items as cardboard, all colors of glass, steel cans, and plastic with recyclable symbols 1-7, newspaper, junk mail, advertisements, phone books, catalogues, and pizza boxes. The City will not take “waxed” paper products, electronic equipment, paint, Styrofoam, light bulbs and rubber products in the 96 gallon containers. You may take oil, electronics parts, tires, white goods, and damaged furniture to the landfill adjacent to the Twin Oaks Golf Course off Greenbrier road.

If you live in the City of Statesville, Troutman, or Mooresville you may contact the City Hall and sign up for a blue container at no cost. Benfield Sanitation provides recycling pickup in the County for a nominal cost and will provide the blue container.

If you wish to bring your recyclables to the church you may place them in our container near the back door. You will find that once you start single stream recycling you will reduce the waste you place in the Iredell County landfill by 50-66%. —Rob Hites, Junior Warden
